Which Linux distribution should I choose?
In recent years, both Red Hat and Debian (including Ubuntu) have proven to be stable and suitable for long-term business use. Debian is widely used in the community and known for high stability. Debian is the origin and also the basis of Ubuntu. As a result, there are a variety of intuitive application tools here, as well as additional commercial software packages.
If the charm of open source, combined with the power of a manufacturer behind it, is important to you, then Red Hat is an excellent choice, also recommended by the manufacturers of many enterprise applications.
At m.a.x. it, we have been working primarily with Debian and Red Hat for over 20 years and will weigh the most suitable distribution for you together.
What advantages does Linux offer me?
Especially in the cloud sector, Linux plays to its maximum strengths. Be it the automated deployment of thousands of VMs or containers, or subsequent adaptation and fine-tuning with cloud-init. With Linux, there are no limits, and the calculation of license costs usually plays no role.
Linux, and now what?
Strictly speaking, Linux alone is just the kernel, the core. Around it, you need the distribution, but ultimately, the service is paramount. Database clusters with dual-master operation, secure replication, and high availability at every application layer are our home turf.
